This year has been quite a year for me – raising 2 children, changing my business, saying some sad goodbyes, moving to another town and basically changing everything that I have been doing for the last 8 years to doing things differently and exploring opportunities that I wouldn’t necessarily have even considered.
In between all my emails, family time and general chaos of motherhood and life, I got to have a moment the other day where I actually sat back and looked at where I am TODAY and what I have done (well and not so well) and what I have achieved which ultimately has gotten me to where I am today. I considered what I want to do next year with my life and my business and looked at how everything I have done up until now has actually helped me reach this point where I have mentally and emotionally changed and grown PLUS I feel I have a more clarity on what I want to do.
By having worked in the corporate world, been a programmer for 15 years, run a business for 10 years and having become a mother has allowed me to experience people, life, situations (good and bad) and grow as a person. With the knowledge I have gained from learning from other people, experiencing other people and different situations, I am able to make what I would call “My Dream Job” a reality.
Why am I telling you this?
I think that it’s human nature to question things and to wonder why we are going through a particular ordeal or not. Unfortunately, life has its ways of throwing stuff at you when you least expect it and we actually have very little choice other than to deal with it. That being said, I choose to believe that these situations teach us or are preparing us for something bigger.
So, the reason I wanted to share this with you today is this: I want you to take a moment and consider where you are TODAY and RIGHT NOW. Think about where you have come from and consider everything you have learnt. If certain things hadn’t happened, would you perhaps be with your husband today? Would you have had the kids you have today? Would you be living in the place you are today? How have those things landed up strengthening you in ways you didn’t think possible?
Perhaps, you’re in a difficult time of your life. You aren’t alone. Someone else is possibly going through the same thing or even worse. Just trust in the process and know that it will get better and you will get through it and somewhere in your future, this situation will have made you stronger. When you’re “in it”, it’s difficult to see the positive – this is only natural – I know, I’ve been there and I’m sure I will have to go through many more situations. So, today, I ask you to trust me and know that it will get better…perhaps not today or tomorrow, but sometime soon.
Accepting where you are today can only make tomorrow better!
